Atop a small escarpment overlooking the verdant green olive groves of the Valle D’Itria is Casa Lamia; a newly built villa with traditional features, providing an idyllic retreat for families and groups of up to eight people.
Rolling countryside of endless olive groves dotted with brilliant white Trulli – the unique conical building style of the region – makes travelling the Valle d’itria gentle on the eye. Reknown for its olive oil, white wine, and distinctive Capocollo ham, eating out is an exciting adventure. There is easy access to the beaches of both the Adriatic and Ionian seas; taking just thirty minutes to the beach resort of Lido Morelli just outside of Ostuni.
Casa Lamia is situated in the small picturesque hamlet of Pescarosa, which sits in the middle of a region bounded by the character filled towns of Ostuni, Cisterino, Martina Franca, and Ceglie Massapica.
The villa is comprised of four bedrooms around a central hall. All rooms have been given traditional Tufo stone ceilings and stoned tiled floors, creating a warm sense of the traditional within a modern, high quality villa. Two of the bedrooms have en suite facilities, and there is a large bathroom for the remaining two bedrooms to share.
The central hall provides a space for cooking, dining and relaxing, where the whole family can gather to spend precious time together. You will definitely want make the most of the views from the covered, twin arched terrace by eating ‘al fresco’ under blue skies or starry nights.
Below the terrace is the large 12x6m infinity pool, an alluring place on those hot Pugliese days, where parents can easily monitor the safety of children and call down to them when lunch is ready. If swimming is too exhausting for you, you can enjoy the calmness of the water whilst lounging on a sofa under the poolside loggia.
There are plenty of spaces to relax, either together or alone; outside each bedroom is a small shaded patio, for those quiet – book reading – moments; whilst the roof offers a large sun terrace that allows for unbroken sun bathing from morning through to evening. When the sun has gone down, everyone can relax with their chosen refreshments on the covered terraced.
From the restaurants and bars of charming historic towns, the joys of the natural environment, to the many beaches and child friendly resorts, Casa Lamia provides the perfect base from which to experience these delights.
Casa Lamia is in the hamlet of Pascarosa and within a short drive of Ostuni, Cisternino and Ceglie Messapica. Pascarosa has an osteria which has a good reputation for its pizzas, a restaurant that excels in grilled dishes and a nightspot. The Adriatic coast can be reached in about half an hour and the Ionian coast in about 45 minutes.
What we love
Casa Lamia is all about the views – they stretch out across the Itria Valley and bring a whole new meaning to ‘sundowners’. It’s a brilliant house for families or groups of friends as there’s plenty of space inside and out, and the infinity pool is wonderful although without a significantly shallow end younger children won’t be able to touch the bottom.
This is a great villa for families. It has a big living space and the layout is fantastic. Everyone can have their own space if they want it or come together indoors or out. The pool is fabulous and there are lots of thoughtful touches that make a difference; well kitted out kitchen, lovely bathrooms and the whole villa is very well presented and stylish. The location is great for reaching lots of interesting towns and beaches and the restaurant nearby is a five minute walk away and we loved it.
